Leadership Hendricks County accepting applications for Class of 2011

Editor’s note: This is an excellent program that will tell you a lot about yourself and the county you live or work in. I am a member of the class of 2006, but have been presenting at the program for many more years. If you need more information about the program, send me a message and we can chat.

Leadership Hendricks County is currently accepting applications for the 2011 class. Anyone interested in developing his or her leadership skills, or simply learning more about leadership and what it means to the community, is invited to apply.

A new class of up to 25 participants is selected each year. The 2011 class will be the program’s 19th. In January, they’ll participate in an overnight opening retreat, at which they learn more about themselves, leadership styles, and the challenges facing the county. In addition, they will be assigned to a Team Discovery project that addresses a current need.

Each month, they’ll meet for a full day as a group to learn more about a facet of life in Hendricks County. In November, they’ll convene for a closing retreat to review what they’ve learned and present their Team Discovery projects. Upon graduating, they’ll become part of an ever-growing network of leaders serving Hendricks County.

The program is open to people who live or work in Hendricks County. Anyone interested in an application or more information should visit http://www.leadershiphendrickscounty.org, call 317-745-6694 or send an email to swhicker@leadershiphendrickscounty.org. Applications must be received by December 1st, and applicants who are selected for the 2011 class will be notified in mid-December.

Since 1993, Leadership Hendricks County has given citizens the background and inside information they need to take on effective leadership roles in the Hendricks County community. Each graduating class within the program has completed a Team Discovery project to address a current community need. Leadership Hendricks County, Inc., a program of the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service, is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to seek, prepare, involve and sustain leaders from diverse backgrounds to address community and countywide changes.
